How to back up paving jobs and quote records

Keep both a full job-data backup and useful copies of issued PDFs. A quote PDF records the customer document, while the full Pave Measure archive preserves the records behind your work. Neither should exist only on a device you could lose.
Know what each copy is for
An issued PDF is useful for customer correspondence and checking what was offered. It is not a replacement for the editable job record, measurements, notes and estimate history. A full data archive serves a different purpose: bringing saved records back into the app.
The current app stores job information locally and does not provide a developer cloud-sync account. Do not assume that opening Pave Measure on a replacement phone automatically restores every job. Operating-system backups may contain app data, but keep a deliberate export you can locate yourself.
Export an archive
- Open Settings and choose Export full data archive.
- Save the resulting archive to a location you control.
- Give your saved copy a recognisable date without changing its file type.
- Check that the file exists at the destination and is accessible.
An archive contains customer and commercial information. Choose the destination with that in mind. A publicly shared folder is a poor place for a full customer archive, even if it is convenient for distributing marketing files.
Understand import behaviour
Pave Measure validates an archive before showing an import preview. The import process merges records and preserves conflicting copies rather than simply replacing everything. Review the preview and check important jobs after import. Imported data does not grant purchase access.
If two copies of a job differ, inspect dates and issued revisions before deciding which record to use for new work. Do not delete unfamiliar records merely because they appear duplicated immediately after a restore.
Make backups part of the work
Choose a repeatable point in your routine, such as after issuing a set of quotes or before changing devices. Keep more than one dated recovery point so an unwanted edit does not immediately become your only backup. Periodically confirm that you can find and read the stored files.
If the app cannot open its data, preserve existing files before reinstalling or deleting anything. Record the error and follow the support and recovery guidance. Avoid sending a complete customer archive through an unverified support channel.
Read managing quote revisions for keeping the customer-facing document history clear alongside your backups.
